Anambra State governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has approved the renaming of Anambra State Association of Town Union, ASATU, for effective operations. Henceforth, the body is to be known as Anambra State Town Unions Council (ASTUC).

This change was made public during a meeting the governor held with the Presidents General of the 179 communities in the state at the Governor's Lodge, Amawbia.

The governor emphasized the critical role of Presidents General as public servants elected to perform specific duties for the government in their respective communities.

At the meeting, Governor Soludo announced the appointment of Sir Vin Dike, President General of Oraifite Improvement Union as the new chairman of Anambra State Town Union Council.

This appointment marks the end of the tenure of Barr. Titus. Akpudo as the national president of former ASATU.

Governor Soludo's administration has consistently demonstrated a commitment to community development and grassroots governance.

This rebranding and appointment reinforces the governor's dedication to enhancing the lives of Anambra State residents through the useful engagement of PGs as the chief administrators at the grassroot level.
