The governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has signed 11 bills passed by the state House of Assembly into law.
They include Anambra State Electoral Law, 2024; Anambra State Touting Prohibition Law, 2024; Secret Cult and Similar Activities Prohibition Law, 2024; Health Facilities and Accreditation Agency Law, 2024; Anambra State Peace Building and Conflict Management Agency; Anambra State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (ANSOGPADEC) Law, 2024.
Others are Market Safety and Protection Law, 2024; Trafficking in Person Prohibition Law, 2024; Anambra State Private Colleges of Nursing and Midwifery Law, 2024; Law to Amend the Anambra State House of Assembly Service Commission Law 2021 and for other Connected Purposes and Anambra State Revenue Administration (Consolidation and Harmonization) Law, 2024.
Performing the function at Governor's Lodge, Amawbia, Governor Soludo said the laws will cater for the needs of the very critical aspects of Anambra State's collective existence, particularly the ones that provide sustainable framework for the conduct of credible local government election, regulations for healthcare systems and improving efficiency in the state's revenue collection processes.
Majority leader of the House, Hon Ikenna Ofodeme applauded Governor Soludo for the exercise, noting that it was the first time such number of laws was signed in one fell swoop in the history of the state.
According to him, it was a testament to the sound dedication of the legislators, as well as the good job done by the house committee on rules and business, the majority leader and the speaker of the 8th Assembly.
