Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has sworn in Dr. Law Mefor as the new Commissioner for Information few hours after the former occupant, Mr. Paul Nwosu was sacked.
Performing the ceremony at the State Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Awka, Soludo observed that Mefor was assuming office at a time the dissemination of accurate and timely information was more critical than ever before.
He observed that the new information commissioner brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise that is needed to rejuvenate the state's information apparatus.
Speaking after taking the oath of office, Mefor said that in line with the governor's vision, he plans to work with media organizations to promote media literacy among the public by providing them with the necessary tools to evaluate information critically and prevent the spread of inaccurate and misleading content.
He also promised to use technology to modernize the state's information Ministry to make it more responsive, efficient, and accessible to citizens.
