Stop politicizing security issues, APGA tells Anambra Lawmaker

By Madu Obi

The national coordinator of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Media Warriors Forum, Mr. Chinedu Obigwe, has urged politicians not to politicize the issue of security, particularly in Awka where a number of people had lost their lives over cult - related killings.

Obigwe was reacting to a statement credited to the lawmaker representing Awka 1 constituency, Henry Mbachu who called on the APGA - controlled state government to do something about the increasing cult activities in the state capital.

Reacting to the lawmaker's position on security in the state, Obigwe reminded LP lawmaker that security is everybody's business, adding that all hands must be on the deck to tackle it.

According to him, proffering solution to insecurity is not by going live on social media to play emotional blackmail politics.

He said: "As long as I am concerned, the trending video of Henry Mbachu did not proffer any solution to the cult killings in Awka and he said nothing that deserves to be applauded."

"He only made an attempt to use the cult- related killings in Awka to play emotional blackmail politics and hoodwink gullible people."

"When I watched the video , I said to myself that he only played to the gallery in a desperate and condemnable attempt to seek cheap popularity."

"He talked as if our security agents are sleeping, but that is not true. The police are making commendable efforts to nip incidents of cult-related killings in Awka in the bud."

Recently, the Anambra Police command revealed that 16 cultists behind the killings in Awka have been arrested and 21 declared wanted. This is truly a commendable step in the right direction that will end the cult-related killings in Awka.

With the commendable efforts of Anambra State government through the police, Awka residents can sleep peacefully with their two eyes closed and also go about their normal business without fear of molestation.

Obigwe said the arrest of the 16 cultists behind the cult killings in Awka was enough evidence that the government of Governor Chukwuma Soludo has zero tolerance for all forms of criminality in Anambra State.
