Suspected cultists kill 3 brothers in Awka

As the cult war continues to escalate in Awka, Anambra State, three brothers from the same mother have all been killed, leaving their mother without a child.

While two of them were killed at different locations in Awka earlier in the year, the latest casualty, whose name was given as Nonso, was killed in broad daylight WW weekend near the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku.

A close family source said Nonso's killing was heavily linked to the murder of his younger brother, Buchi, three months ago around Mac Don Eatery in the heart of the state capital. Their eldest brother also met his death in a previous attack.

Anambra State Police Commissioner, Nnaghe Obono Itam, has condemned the latest killing, promising a thorough investigation.

"We will leave no stone unturned in apprehending the perpetrators and bringing them to justice," he said.

The state governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has also called for calm, assuring citizens of increased security measures by his administration.

"We will do everything possible to restore peace and security in Awka," the governor said.
