Governor Uba Anyị of Kaduna State has been sacked by the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Kaduna.

The tribunal in the judgment which was delivered virtually (on Zoom) also declared the 2023 governorship election held in the state on March 18, as inconclusive.

Sani who is of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was sacked on Thursday by the Justice Victor Oviawe-led three-man panel in their judgment on the petition filled by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s candidate, Isah Mohammed Ashiru, challenging the election of Sani as the Governor of Kaduna State.

Ashiru and his party PDP had in their petitions alleged irregularities and electoral fraud, deposing that they (PDP and Isa Mohammed Ashiru), won the election.

While declaring the election inconclusive, the Tribunal ruled further that INEC should conduct election in seven wards, four local govts, 24 polling units consisting of 16,300 registered voters.

INEC it could be recalled declared and returned Sani elected with 730,002 votes while Ashiru got 719,196 votes.

The PDP and Ashiru called 24 witnesses and presented claims and documents to prove their case during the hearing of the petition.
