Police operatives attached to Abagana Division in Njikoka local government area of Anambra State have arrested two persons regarded as serial offenders and who were earlier declared wanted over alleged rape and armed robbery cases.
The suspects, Chukwuma Diji (35years) of Obinagu Umudun Village, Abagana, and Micheal Edochie (31years) of Eziabunabu Umudun, Abagana, allegedly raped a married woman at Obinagu Abagana sometime last year and fled the community when security operatives attempted to arrest them.
The police said that unfortunately for them, on 6/6/2024, they broke into an apartment belonging to a young lady and, again, raped her and her friend at gunpoint.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspects later forced one of the victims to transfer money to his account after they took turns of sex with them.
Ikenga said both have confessed to the crimes, adding that items recovered from them include two locally made double barrel guns, one locally made single barrel gun, six live cartridges, and one QLink motorcycle.
The state Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Itam has already ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a comprehensive look, so as to get justice for the victims of the crimes.
The PPRO said the suspects are to be arraigned in court after the investigation is concluded.
