Fierce battle is raging between two prominent sons of Oba Community, Idemili South local government area of Anambra State over who would ascend the vacant traditional throne of the town.

The two persons vying for the position are Vincent Ananti, a lawyer, and Chiedu Emelobe, an engineer.

The throne became vacant in 2018 following the demise of the former traditional ruler, Igwe P. C Ezenwa, who ruled for 42 years.

The community inaugurated a screening committee, headed by Darlington Agha, which recommended the two persons from whom a suitable person for the position would eventually be selected.

It was, however, gathered that three persons who were not satisfied with the outcome of the screening exercise have gone to court to seek justice, with the matter fixed for December 4, 2024 for judgment.

President General of the town, Tony Ejiofor expressed satisfaction with the work of the screening committee, adding that as far as he was concerned, only two aspirants are remaining in the race.

He, however, added that as somebody who likes to follow the right path, the community would wait for the decision of the court.
