The Anambra State Police command has vowed to get killers of the Nanka Ward 1 chairman of Young Progressive Party (YPP).
The YPP chairman, Nze Joe Ezenwegbu was murdered by masked men on Saturday few hours after he hosted the party's House of Representatives member for Orumba North and South federal constituency, Princess Chinwe Nnabuife in preparation for the rerun election in Nanka Ward 1 as ordered by the Court of Appeal.
The rerun election will be between Nnabuife and Hon Okwudili Ezenwankwo of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who is from the same Ward 1.
Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in Anambra State, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Aderemi Adeoye has assured that the command will hunt down the killers and bring them to justice.
The CP condemned the killing in strongest terms, describing the perpetrators as cowards who have murdered sleep.
"The Police is already working on vital clues to unmask the perpetrators. They might think they have committed a perfect crime and that they would get away with it, but they delude themselves."
"The Command wishes to re-assure all law abiding citizens especially in Nanka not to be afraid, but to join hands with the Police in bringing the murderers and their sponsor to justice," the CP said.
