Speaking during the commissioning of the newly completed five kilometres of roads linking Port-Harcourt Road and Niger Street in the Fegge area of Onitsha in Onitsha South local government area the governor promised to be constructing an average of 10 kilometres of roads in the state every month.
He said that apart from roads, the state government had other numerous projects to contend with.

“Having completed Port Harcourt Road and Niger Street, the government would now shift its attention to other adjoining roads in Onitsha, like Ziks Avenue, Silas Works, and Miss Elems, among others.
He also spoke on the menace of touts and other criminals still operating in the state, warning that they would no longer be given a conducive atmosphere to operate.
According to him, those extorting barrow pushers and petty traders in the name of generating revenues for the state government would be made to face the law.
“If any of you knows those touts extorting barrow pushers, please tell them to stop it or else the long arms of the law will catch up with them sooner or later,” the governor said.
The chairman of Onitsha South local government transition committee, Emeka Orji, commended the governor for his efforts in the restoration of the lost glory of the commercial city of Onitsha and urged him not to relent in his good works.
Orji also expressed his determination to complement the efforts of the state government by ensuring a clean and healthy environment in all the streets in the council area and at the same time recovering all the government lands occupied by land grabbers.
