IT was a gathering of who is who in Anambra State when the Senator representing Anambra Central in the Senate, Chief Victor Umeh, organized a thanksgiving to thank God for his victory in the February 25, 2023 election.
The magnificent St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Aguluzuigbo in Anaocha local government area of the state, was filled to capacity as religious leaders, politicians, captains of industry and friends of the senator, assembled for the occasion.
The concelebrated Mass was presided over by His Eminence, Peter Cardinal Ebere Okpalaeke ( Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese), with the Archbishop of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace, Most Rev. Valerian Maduka Okeke and the Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor in attendance.
The Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye was represented.
Participating also were a delegation of the Methodist Church of Nigeria led by the Bishop of Awka Diocese, Rt. Rev. Onyekachi Nwakama and his counterparts in the Anglican Communion.
There were about two hundred priests and members of the religious community in attendance.
Three former governors of Anambra State, His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi (former presidential candidate and leader of the Labour Party) and his wife, Lady Margaret Obi, Senator Chris Nwabueze Ngige and Dame Virgy Etiaba, also graced the occasion.
In an emotion- laden speech, Senator Umeh thanked God for orchestrating his political trajectory from the point of uncertainties to a glorious end.
He commended all those who were used by God to place him where he has found himself and promised to continue to be a good representative of the people in the country's upper legislative chambers.
