MINISTER of Women Affairs, Mrs. Uju Kennedy -Ohaneze has urged those applying for the social security cash benefits to submit their BVN, warning that no one would get the money unless her BVN was captured.
Addressing women of Awka during the distribution of food and other support items for poor people in the society, the Minister said that BVN is a major requirement for obtaining the grant.
She said: "The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been supporting the poor on social security programme across the six geopolitical zones of the country.
But you have to apply to benefit from it and only the poor women are qualified to get it. You should therefore not be afraid to tender your BVN when requested for it because that is what will guarantee you to get the money.
Do not be afraid to submit your BVN because no one can steal your money if you tender your BVN. It is only being used to ensure that people who have been privileged to enjoy such facility cannot collect again. What we want to do is to ensure that the money mapped out for social security gets to the right people."
She assured indigent women that the positive policies of the President will manifest soon and that things will become easier for everyone.
According to her, the President is aware of the hardship being experienced by Nigerians and is making efforts to better the situation.
During the ceremony, the minister distributed 5000 bags of rice, over 500 bag of fertilizer and 300 cooking gas cylinders donated by Mrs Yinka Opeke, CEO of Smartgas, to facilitate a transition from use of fossil fuel for cooking to use of gas, which she said, is healthier.
She added: "These items are from President Tinubu, and he has assured that he will do more. The items we have here are only for the poor and no one who is not present will benefit from it.
We want to cultivate a culture of ensuring that whatever is released by the federal government to the people gets to them. That is why I'm here to supervise the distribution of these items.
We are committed to serve Nigeria and the president has committed himself to improve the welfare of poor people."
She announced that her ministry has instituted a mobile court to protect the interest of poor people, warning that those who do not want the poor to breathe fresh air will have to face full weight of the law.
She said the mobile court will take off from October 15, adding that a group called 'Integrity Brigade' will be launched to fight ills in the country.
